Rev. John Fisk, Seneca, N.Y. writes to Rev. Joseph Lyman, at Hatfield, Mass. "...my journey has been more agreeable and much less fatiguing than I dared to hope for. The roads are, indeed some what muddy, but not equal to my expectations,... The people in this part of this state are much exasperated with the British. An affair lately happened which is considered as a matter of considerable importance. A Captain Church who had been traffic king with the British and was returning home, had his boat captured, and detained, as he supposed without any just reason..."
